What is the value of the offered EU aid for investments in companies?

If you plan the development of your company, you should consider the cheapest available source of financing for your plans, that is EU grants. Currently, all key investments in Europe are completed with the use of EU funds. The EU particularly wants to offer capital injection from public funds to investments in new technologies or renewable energy sources, as these goals form the basis of the EU’s strategy for sustainable development.

In the years 2021-2030 the EU offers as much as EUR 16.5 billion of support for Polish business entities.

EUR 12 billion of grants from EU funds is assigned to grants for the implementation of enhanced production technologies in Polish companies. In addition, the EU will also assign EUR 4.5 billion of grants to investments related to energy transformation and climate protection in companies, particularly to the co-financing of construction or modernisation of sewage treatment plants. The non-reimbursable grant is payable upfront as advance payments made in the course of completion of the investment schedule.

In every outlook for the EU budget, the European Union sets strategic goals of common European policy for various sectors of the economy of Member States, e.g. agriculture, expansion of infrastructure, culture, building social capital, or industrial economy. The current goals are specified in the outlook for the years 2021-2030. The persons and entities actively operating on the EU market are encouraged to implement the strategic goals set by the EU by the mechanism of grants awarded to projects by dedicated investments funds of the EU. With regard to support for the industrial economy sector, the EU offers grants from two key instruments:

  • European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
  • Cohesion Fund (CF)

The priority statutory goal of ERDF in relation to the EU’s political strategy is to offer capital injection in the form of non-reimbursable grants for investment projects of enterprises which are aimed at the

  • implementation of enhanced production technologies and market expansion use of industrial IT,
  • robotisation and artificial intelligence solutions in technology implementation
  • having positive impact on climate and surroundings with the applied technologies

By 2030 ERDF offers to award EUR 12 billion to Polish production companies in the form of horizontal and regional aid. Every company interested in the EU grant for its investment must include in its project the above-mentioned strategic goals of European policy, as specified by the EU.   • energy transformation in order to change the energy mix used by the enterprise

The European Union offers EUR 4.5 billion for energy-related investments from the CF as regional aid, including EUR 1.5 billion for projects that are to have a positive impact on the climate and the natural environment within the scope of construction of sewage treatment plants or construction of recycling systems related to circular economy.
